Determining Factors for Operative Risk and Prognosis in Patients with Emergent Laparotomy

Abstract
a clinical study was undertaken to identify the determining factors for operative risk and prognosis in patients with emergent laparotomy. The study wa conducted with uniultivariate analysis using perioperative APACHE II scores, which had been
widely
adopted in stratifying patient's clinical status, age, and operative time as functional variables. Over 2-year period, 336 patients qualified for the study, 26 of whom died and 310 of whom survived. The study revealed that postoperative APACHE II
score
was the only statistically significant factor with independant meaning to predict patient's outcome. This result, in addition, had us be able to argue that it is better to doradical surgery regardless patient's clinical status rather than
tailoring
the
operation by that, to improve patient's condition ultimately.
